This website has been in existence since 1997. When it was first established there were not a lot of comprehensive frequency gathering sites for scanner users. The Internet was becoming more and more popular and before long the official FCC Databases became available - although they were never very easy to search, especially if you were looking for more than a single user. Many frequency listing sites have come and gone in the intervening years. A few are still around, some are maintained and many are neglected. This one does get some attention but admittedly it is on a very infrequent basis. Although it would be fun to be able to do nothing but enhance the performance of this site and lend more functionality to it, I do have a 'real' job so I just can't maintain this one as I would really like to do. This is really just a little diversion that I enjoy in my limited spare time. ScanControl has been developed to provide sophisticated scanning radio memory management, monitoring, control, and automation. ScanControl is the ONLY scanner software on the market that supports both Uniden and GRE, a total of 21 different radios, all in one program. The currently supported models are:
ScanControl provides two basic functionalities:
Scanner Memory Management (SMM): SMM solves the problem of having to manually enter frequencies, Talkgroup IDs and Fleet Maps into the radio. SMM provides functionality for programming frequencies, Channel tags, control attributes (Priority, Delay, Lockout, Attenuate, Trunked), Talkgroup IDs, Fleet Maps and Talkgroup Tags into your personal computer (PC), saving them to your hard disk, recalling them from your hard disk and programming them into your scanner.
The program supports unlimited creating, saving, programming recall, and uploading (from the scanner) data files. Each file is an exact copy of the scanner's memory structure with the addition of Bank, Channel and Talkgroup ID tags (alphanumeric descriptors). This enables you to easily identify the Bank, Channel and Talkgroup IDs. This feature makes it very convenient to create and store multiple scanner data files organized any way you want, and they can be programmed into the scanner in minutes.
SMM functionality is provided in all editions of ScanControl software. It's also worth noting that Version 7.0.x is backward compatible with data files from previous software versions AND older scanners in most cases. This means if you upgrade from a BC245XLT or BC895XLT to the latest BC246T, BCD396T scanner your old data files can be directly loaded into ScanControl with no re-keying or lost data.
Scanner Control and Monitoring (SCM): SCM is available for the BCT8, BC245XLT, BC895XLT, BC780XLT, BC250D, BC296D, BC785D, BC796D, PRO-2052, SC230, BC246T, BR330T, BCT15, BCD996T and BCD396T in Version 7.0.x - available for purchase now. TRUNKING RADIO SYSTEMS as described on Wikipedia
A trunked radio system is a complex type of radio system that is used to maximize available capacity in a two-way radio system, usually UHF. Groups of users are given a logical talkgroup to share for their communications, rather than a dedicated radio frequency. Trunking is used by many government entities to provide two-way communication for fire departments, police and other municipal services, who all share spectrum allocated to a city, county, or other entity. Control channels Users' radios send data packets to a computer, operating on a dedicated frequency — called a Control Channel — to request communication on a specific talk-group. The controller sends a digital signal to all radios monitoring that talkgroup, instructing the radios to automatically switch to the frequency indicated by the system to monitor the transmission. After the user is done speaking, the users' radios return to monitoring the control channel for additional transmissions. This arrangement allows multiple groups of users to share a small set of actual radio frequencies without hearing each others' conversations. Trunked systems primarily conserve limited radio frequencies and also provide other advanced features to users. This information is an excerpt from Wikipedia.
